1.What a matchmaker account is
A matchmaker account is separate from a member account. With it you:
- get a public profile of your own, with your name, photo, experience and the districts you work in (list of matchmakers)
- create and manage, from your dashboard, the biodata of the brides and grooms you represent
- find suitable profiles, send proposals and keep a record of each proposal's progress
- receive contact requests from members
2.Sign-up and approval
On the matchmaker sign-up page, give your name, email, mobile number, experience, the districts you work in (up to 10), an introduction and a photo.
Your National ID (NID) or birth certificate number and a photo of it. Only admins can see it, and every view is recorded in the audit log.
Our team usually checks applications within 1–3 working days. If you log in meanwhile, you will see the status of your application.
Once approved, the matchmaker dashboard opens and your public profile shows the “Verified matchmaker” badge.
Your phone number and office address are not shown on your public profile. You can change your name, photo, introduction, experience and districts later under My matchmaker profile.
3.Adding brides and grooms
“Add a bride/groom” on the dashboard: name, bride or groom, date of birth, religion and marital status. A bride must be at least 18 and a groom at least 21.
In the “Consent” part of the profile page (see section 4). Without consent, the profile can't be published and no photos can be added.
You get the same form members use for their own profile: personal details, address, education, occupation, family, lifestyle and the partner they hope for. Each field saves as you leave it.
When the profile is 100% complete, choose “Send for review”. Once our team approves it, it appears in search; if something needs fixing, you will see why on your dashboard.
- Each matchmaker can keep up to 50 profiles by default; contact an admin if you need more
- When a marriage is arranged or the family no longer wants it, hide or archive the profile; archived profiles don't count towards your limit
- Free-text fields can't contain phone numbers, emails or links — put contact numbers in their own field
4.Consent: why and how
You can only do what the bride/groom or their guardian has agreed to. Each consent record says who gave it, how, when and for what.
Best practice: on the profile page choose “Print consent form”, have the bride/groom or their guardian tick the boxes and sign it, then upload a photo or PDF of it. Admins see a “consent form on file” mark for signed forms. Consent given in person, by phone or on a video call can also be recorded, by writing down how and when you got it.
Renewal: when consent is more than a year old, the profile page and your dashboard show “renew”. Talk to the family and record consent again; if they no longer want it, hide or archive the profile.
5.Privacy rules
On a matchmaker-managed profile, the following are never shown publicly or to other members:
- the bride's/groom's or guardian's phone number
- the full address with village, house and landmark (only the upazila and district are shown)
- NID, birth certificate, certificates and consent forms
- the names of family members
Choose who sees the photos — everyone, logged-in members only, or only people whose interest was accepted — under “Who sees the photos” in the biodata editor. You can only see and change the profiles you manage; you have no access to any other matchmaker's records.
6.Sending proposals and tracking progress
Once a profile is approved, open “Suitable profiles” on its page. Best matches shows the profiles ShadiMaker rates as the best fit — comparing both sides' preferences, age, area, education and occupation — each with the reasons why; under Search you can search yourself by age, district and education. When one looks right, choose “Send proposal”.
- To another matchmaker's profile: the proposal goes to that matchmaker's dashboard; they mark it “considering”, “interested” or “cancelled”
- To a regular member: it arrives on the member's Interests page, marked “managed by a matchmaker”, and they accept or decline. Members who turned matchmaker proposals off in Settings can't be sent one
- When a member shows interest in your profile: it reaches you as a new proposal
Contact details show only when both sides agree. To agree from your side, that bride/groom must have consent on record for sharing contact details. The other side then sees your contact phone and, if the consent covers it, the guardian's phone.
Your own notes and follow-ups: on each proposal's page, keep a note for yourself (e.g. “father will reply after Friday”) and set a follow-up date. Only you see them. On the follow-up date the proposal appears in “Today's follow-ups” on your dashboard; after 14 days with no progress it is listed there separately.
Notifications and the morning email
New proposals, status changes, members' contact requests, requests about your profiles and the review results for the profiles you manage arrive as dashboard notifications and by email. On days when something is waiting, you also get an 8am email listing the day's work — today's follow-ups, new proposals and consent due for renewal. To stop the emails, switch off “Email notifications” at the bottom of “My matchmaker profile”; dashboard notifications stay on.
7.Members' contact requests
Logged-in members can send you a contact request with a message from your public profile. You will find them under “Contact requests”. Choose Respond and that member can see your contact number; otherwise choose Close. Nobody else sees your number.
8.Hide, correction and delete requests
Any bride/groom or their family can use this form to ask for a profile to be hidden, for consent to be withdrawn, or for information to be corrected or deleted. When such a request to hide or withdraw consent concerns a matchmaker-managed profile, the profile is hidden at once, you get a notification, and an admin verifies the request and decides. Respond quickly and correct the information if needed.
9.Code of conduct
- Never add anyone's biodata without clear consent; never add fake or made-up profiles
- Never publish anyone's phone number, full address or ID anywhere
- Don't promise that a marriage is “guaranteed”; don't pressure anyone for advance payment
- ShadiMaker itself charges no fee; agree your own service fee clearly with the family
- Advise that the first meeting happens in a safe place with family present
If there is evidence of rule-breaking, complaints or false information, admins can suspend or deactivate a matchmaker account; all of its profiles are then hidden from search. Details in the community guidelines and terms.
